Additional tips & advice for Jobseekers 
It’s important to note that if you haven’t been successfully shortlisted for a vacancy or if you have attended an interview and have not been given the job offer then there are various reasons for this:

  1. Sadly more than often unqualified applicants do not refer to the Job Vacancy posting and its requirements and go ahead and apply anyway. As a general rule only apply for vacancies that you meet the required criteria for, that way you will be sure to be considered for the role.
  2. Your CV is your personal advertisement that should showcase your skills and experience to your prospective employer. So sell yourself! Your Curriculum Vitae should be up to date, clear and concise.
  3. Competition in the application process can be brutal! What this means is that for most positions advertised there may be hundreds or even thousands of other applicants who are equally qualified for the position.
  4. Congratulations! If you were invited for an Interview with the employer as this generally means that you successfully passed through the gruesome short listing stage. If you did not get that job offer after the interview, this can be very disappointing only because you came very close. Take it as a learning experience and try and discover what went wrong with the Interview; was it lack of preparation? Interview jitters? Too much or too little confidence? There are very many other reasons for a bad interview but on a positive note 6 out of 10 times the reason why you did not qualify is not because you were a bad interviewee but just that there was a candidate that was better suited to the position.
